Kauffman Park Friends submitted a proposal to the City of Lakewood's Planning and Development Department when they announced plans to restore and reconfigure courts in multiple locations across the city.
Included in the proposal were the following suggestions:
- Unique, popular activities that are not currently supported at other nearby parks like: pickleball, volleyball, inline hockey, bike polo

- Poles that support multiple net heights, and are possibly removable to allow for additional inline sports to use the space
- Various colors of court paint or tiles that provide play lines for multiple sports
