Collaboration between Kauffman Park Friends and the residents of Andrews Avenue, with support from the City of Lakewood and Upcycle Parts Shop, brings colorful art installation to Kauffman Park.
Early September, 2018, residents of all ages kicked off a creative project aimed at beautifying the fence west of the playground at Kauffman Park. Attendees of the 2018 Andrews Avenue Block Party made, and later helped Kauffman Park Friends install the initial batch of Fence Flowers at Kauffman.

Kauffman Park Friends procured instructions and materials (from Upcycle Parts Shop) as well as permission from the City of Lakewood in order to make the first phase of this colorful art installation happen. The flowers are constructed from durable, weather-tolerant, vinyl banners rescued from their final destination in a landfill, falling right in line with Upcycle Parts Shop's mission to, "Make less waste, more art!". The Friends' vision is for other neighborhood groups, block party committees, and resident groups surrounding the park to continue to add to and enjoy this beautification project at Kauffman Park for years to come.
Groups interested in the supplies, instructions, and installation assistance needed to add to the Kauffman Park Flower Fence should contact Kauffman Park Friends for more information. |
